and user interface text in different versions of files used in previous
customization projects. </span>

<p class="p">When you customize subsequent versions of the product, you customize
only new and changed strings. See <a class="xref" href="ug_ldk_t_localizingsubsequentversionsofaproduct.html#LocalizingSubsequentVersionsofaProduct" title="If a new version or a patch for a IBM Cognos product contains changes to the messages or user interface text, you must customize the resource files again. IBM Cognos User Interface and Error String Customization Toolkit simplifies this task.">Customizing Subsequent Versions of a Product</a>.</p>
<p class="p">After configuring Cognos UI
and Error String Customization Toolkit, you are ready to customize
message and user interface text. You can see the processing results
in a log file created in the location that you specified for the Log_File
variable during configuration.</p>
<p class="p">In all locales, product copyright information must not be customized.</p>
<div class="note important"><span class="importanttitle">Important:</span> After your customization project is complete,
you must keep the files in the synchronization directory and in the
reference directory for subsequent customization projects.</div>
