<div class="section" id="relnotes__description"><h2 class="title sectiontitle">Description</h2><p class="p">The <span class="keyword">IBM Informix</span> Java™ Database Connectivity (JDBC)
Driver lets Java programmers
access <span class="keyword">Informix</span> databases
from within Java applications
or applets. Programmers can create client applications that use JDBC
to connect to an <span class="keyword">Informix</span> database
server, retrieve data from the database, and handle errors. The <span class="keyword">Informix JDBC
Driver</span> can
also be used for writing user-defined routines that are run on an <span class="keyword">Informix</span> database
server. The <span class="keyword">IBM Informix JDBC Driver</span> is
compatible with the JavaSoft JDBC specifications. The <span class="keyword">Informix JDBC
Driver</span> maps
standard Java data types and <span class="keyword">Informix</span> data
types.</p>

<div class="section" id="relnotes__system"><h2 class="title sectiontitle">System requirements</h2><p class="p">You must have Java Development Kit (JDK) 1.7 or
later installed to use the <span class="keyword">IBM Informix JDBC Driver</span>.</p>
<div class="p">To use <span class="keyword">IBM Informix JDBC Driver</span> to
connect to an <span class="keyword">IBM Informix</span> database,
you must use one of the following <span class="keyword">IBM Informix</span> database
servers:<ul class="ul"><li class="li">Version 11.50, 11.70, or 12.10</li>
<li class="li"><span class="keyword">IBM Informix Extended Parallel
Server</span>,
Version 8.3 or later</li>
</ul>

<p class="p">You must also use Java Runtime Environment (JRE) Version
1.7 or later.</p>
<p class="p">The Informix JDBC driver is compliant
